Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Associate Director of Clinical Operations is responsible for the planning and implementation of communications and marketing plan for University Health Services (UHS). Responsible for planning, introducing, and developing innovative ideas which support the strategic and marketing goals and objectives of UHS.

Essential Functions

  • Evaluates, designs and implements UHS marketing plan and promotion efforts in collaboration with various departments, student organizations and community agencies to promote UHS. Coordinates all written materials with Associate Director, Clinical Operations. Promotes services and healthy messages through the various media sources identifying and utilizing existing or new media outlets.
  • Create electronic and printed marketing and communications materials to include: print, email, online brochures, newsletters, invitations, announcements, post cards, press releases, videos, social media communications, major print collateral and ideas which generate interest in, and effectively promote UHS. Collaborations will be necessary with leadership team, and staff at UHS.
  • Create marketing strategies to grow UHS volume in all areas including, but not limited to Walk- in- Clinic, General Medical Clinics, Eye Clinics, Physical Therapy, Travel Medicine, Women’s Health Clinic, Public Health Clinics and Transgender Medicine.
  • Actively collaborates with UHS staff and campus/community stakeholders for printed materials, newspaper articles and media campaigns with the commitment to fulfill the UHS mission of promoting services to various consumer groups. Supports and assists staff in operationalizing public relations activities. Works with university director of news as needed on press releases and other public relations communications related to events and emergencies. Also works closely with Dean of Students to disseminate information about health issues on campus that may affect students.
  • Coordinates needs analysis and market research to determine needs/wants among faculty, staff, students and other market segments.
  • Responsible for writing copy for UHS publications, and for reviewing copy development in other university pieces to ensure consistency of message.
  • Coordinates the development and ongoing maintenance of a UHS web site. Creates and maintains ongoing presence for UHS on multiple electronic sites including: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and UHS Portal. Maintains current knowledge of social marketing, web based strategies and health topics.
  • Represents UHS at various events to promote services and programs, including but not limited to undergraduate recruitment. Serves on pertinent UHS, university and community committees. Coordinates all event planning and management when appropriate.
  • Coordinates the preparation of the UHS annual report, provides budget recommendations for marketing initiatives.
  • Understands and contributes to implementation of departmental and institutional goals for achieving non-discrimination and creating a multicultural environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Marketing, Public Relations, Health Promotions, and Communications required.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in marketing, communications and/or public relations/promotions/event planning. Experience in health care marketing is a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex tasks with short time frames.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills. Strong verbal and public presentation skills.
  • Ability to write for a wide range of mediums and audiences, including print and web.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the maintenance of website content and website development.
  • Ability to plan, execute/work through projects and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated creative skills, knowledge and experience with current social media technology.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. May require some evening, holiday and weekend hours.
