Responsibilities

Develops, interprets, and administers an admissions and/or recruitment program supporting Haas graduate degree programs.

Specifically:
  • Develop annual admissions plan for the Full-time MBA program. Oversee admissions processes and procedures, including the design of the online application and database.
  • Evaluate and select students for Haas' Full-time MBA program including reading/reviewing applications for admission, providing a written assessment of each applicant, making final admissions decisions, and determining the composition of the MBA classes.
  • Analyze and report on admissions statistics throughout admissions cycle and in annual reports to the administration, faculty, and Haas Advisory Board.
  • Counsel prospective applicants regarding admissions requirements, Haas programs, and preparations for MBA study; convert qualified candidates to applications and, ultimately, admitted students to enrollees
  • Provide direction on scholarship and loan strategy; serve on scholarship committees

Represent admissions externally and internally:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with students and alumni;
  • Work closely with Haas departments including: Marketing, Career Services, Development and Alumni Relations, and Center for Executive Development to share industry insights, facilitate school interactions, and achieve recruitment and admissions goals.
  • Build on existing ties between faculty, students, and alumni and outside firms and organizations to help identify and recruit potential students and to strengthen overall relationships between these companies and the school.
  • Stay closely connected with campus units such as the Graduate Division and related Berkeley and other UC MBA programs to share leads, ideas, and best practices.
  • Conduct outreach presentations in the US and internationally designed to recruit and yield students for the Full-time MBA Program
  • Provides direction to subordinate admissions and financial aid professional and support staff. Provides guidance and assistance to subordinates on most complex issues.
  • Makes decisions on performance, salary actions, hiring decisions and other human resources related issues of managed staff.
  • Responsible for administering the budget for managed function.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience in recruiting, outreach and/or career services.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of significant team management/supervision experience in higher education or related field.
  • Up to 20% Domestic and International travel required
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Advanced knowledge of education theory, policy, practice, and evaluation.
  • Significant knowledge of evaluation methodologies, data analysis procedures, and systems necessary for working with technical staff to develop effective data management and evaluation systems
  • Advanced knowledge of fiscal management policies and practices and/or the ability to learn the University personnel management policies and practices.
  • Knowledge of organizational development strategies and practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service and professionalism.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, public relations and written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups in a busy environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of academic business programs.

Education/Training:
  • Bachelors degree in related area.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant knowledge of the goals and mission of the University and the Haas School of Business, or the ability to learn, as they relate to academic preparation, recruitment, and advanced-standing admission.
  • Significant knowledge of UC Berkeley Colleges and schools or the ability to learn.
  • Significant knowledge regarding UC Berkeley's graduate admissions policies.

Education/Training:
  • Masters degree in related area or equivalent experience.

Salary & Benefits

This is an exempt, monthly paid position. Annual salary is commensurate with experience.
