The Senior Director, Annual Giving Marketing Operations leads Georgetown's annual giving marketing enterprise with a focus on building a culture of philanthropy and generating ongoing and long term support for Georgetown. More specifically, he/she will ensure continued growth in dollars and donors by leveraging innovation and best practices in marketing, data analysis, testing, benchmarking, project management systems, messaging, and stakeholder engagement.

The Senior Director oversees the Marketing Operations team, which serves as the central point of service delivery and operations for all direct response marketing for Annual Giving for the entire university, including direct mail, email, digital/online, and phonathon. The Senior Director will develop new and improved project management systems and practices, and will provide budget and contract oversight/management. He/she will partner with teams and leadership across various units and departments to drive overall giving, donor acquisition, donor retention, and stewardship, with the goal of fostering a culture of philanthropy and generating ongoing and long term support for Georgetown.

In addition to marketing operations leadership, the Senior Director acts as a thought partner with Annual Giving, Advancement, and university leadership to develop and lead strategies for leadership annual giving (at the $5K-$25K level) to build and maintain a strong major gifts pipeline, robust stewardship and loyal donor programs, and innovative, ad hoc, and/or ongoing special projects that drive increased giving.

Finally, the Senior Director works with Advancement colleagues and university leadership to build and integrate marketing plans, assess direct marketing results, and provide recommendations for future projects.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Program Enhancement & Development
  • Lead the enhancement of current programs such as direct mail, phonathon, email, and digital marketing strategies through benchmarking, data analysis and testing.
  • Partner with Annual Giving leadership to develop and lead annual direct response, donor acquisition, donor retention, stewardship and pipeline development plans that support shared goals for Annual Giving units, development partners, and university leadership.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact on the Annual Giving team for the Loyalty Society, including event planning, execution, stewardship and budget management, continuing to develop the program as a premier giving society for the institution.
  • Work with university partners to develop and execute innovative programs that will contribute to the increase in participation and fundraising dollars.


Centralized Operations
  • Act as the central point of service delivery and operations for the Annual Giving team, including direct mail, email, online/digital marketing, phonathon and peer-to-peer fundraising efforts.
  • Oversee the maintenance and improvement of all work flow processes for the Marketing Operations team, including project management and budget and contracts oversight.
  • Lead extensive communications, marketing, and goal planning activities for direct response for the Annual Giving team, units and university partners.
  • Manage oversight of budgets for Direct Mail, Phonathon, Digital Marketing and Stewardship.
  • Create a knowledge hub for all operations and marketing strategies relating to Annual Giving to support unit leads, and Advancement and university partners.


Quality Control & Data Management
  • Ensure the continuity, accuracy, and presence of Annual Giving messaging throughout direct response marketing.
  • Lead ongoing marketing project and process evaluations that will provide best practice execution of direct marketing and the opportunity for improvement in current practices at Georgetown.
  • Create and maintain channel reports/analysis for all direct response efforts for Annual Giving team and university partners.
  • Manage the development and quality control of all data points stemming from the annual giving team, including mailing lists and results reporting.


Management
  • Direct management of six full-time employees, as well as 60-80+ hourly Phonathon Student Callers, and student interns as needed.
  • Manage oversight of budgets for Direct Mail, Phonathon, Digital Marketing and Stewardship.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 7-10 years of professional experience in marketing, annual giving, and/or fundraising, preferably in a higher education or non-profit environment
