Museum Curator Opportunity in American Music and History

Position involves:
Research and publication based on the collections and the interests of the curator, assessing and building collections related to American popular music, creating exhibitions as part of a team, and contributing to public programming.

We are seeking scholars working in specializations within American popular or vernacular music. Genres of research interest might include but are not limited to: jazz, pop, gospel, reggaeton, funk, hip hop, bomba, EDM, salsa, conjunto, or any range of music by Latinx or African American musicians or musical traditions. Experience working with material culture or in museums a plus. Ph.D. in U.S. History, American Studies, Ethnic Studies, Musicology, Ethnomusicology or related field in hand or completed by December of 2020 is preferred. This is an entry-level position equivalent to an assistant professor.

Starting Salary GS-12 - $83,398 per year with promotion potential, plus benefits
