Full Professor, Food and Activity for Healthy Communities
The College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences (CEHHS), in combination with the Department of Nutrition, seeks applications for a Full Professor who will be the lead of a cluster hire, totaling 6 tenure-track faculty lines, in which 4 will be based in CEHHS, that will focus on modifying lifestyle culture around food and physical activity to reduce health disparities using a multi-level (systems) approach. We seek applications from exceptional scholars in the areas of multi-level interventions that target food and/or energy balance to improve health in the areas of obesity, diabetes, and/or cardiovascular disease.
The candidate should be able to provide leadership in the cluster hire and related research initiatives, have familiarity with multi-level interventions, apply health-relevant theoretical frameworks in research, have strong quantitative or mixed methods research skills, and are experienced with multidisciplinary collaboration. Candidates must have earned their doctorate in health behavior; a public health, social, or behavioral science field; or nutrition. The candidate must have an extensive record of extramural funding and scholarly productivity, and successful mentoring. The successful candidate will: (a) conduct an independent research program that complements department and college research initiatives; (b) participate in related collaborative research programs; (c) mentor faculty hired within CEHHS for the cluster hire initiative; (d) provide limited teaching in the Department of Nutrition's educational programs; and (e) mentor MS/PhD students. UTK is Tennessee's flagship land grant university. UTK is a Carnegie Foundation Research (R1) University with highest research activity, has achieved a Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement, and educates approximately 29,000 students annually.
