DescriptionThis is a limited term position for 18 months, with the possibility of extension.
The Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life prepares Tufts students to become active citizens and community leaders. As the only university-wide college of its kind, its mission is to engage Tufts students in meaningful community building, public service experiences, and transformational learning. It conducts and supports groundbreaking research on civic and political participation and forges innovative community partnerships. Tisch College is a national leader in civic education, whose model and research are setting the standard for higher education’s role in civic engagement.

The Events Coordinator will report the Special Programs Administrator with oversight from the Director of Communications. S/he will provide advanced planning, organizational and logistical support and coordination for the Tisch College 20th anniversary year events, including the signature event on 4/16/20 and the commencement weekend events. Support Talloires Network 2020 conference in September 2020. Produces a variety of documents, reports and proposals, responds to inquiries and provides detailed information to constituents. Organizes and maintains files and databases. May assist in updating website and posting social media material. Participates in development of program or project marketing and communications materials, coordinates logistics for meetings and events including travel and arrangements for speakers, provides research assistance, and monitors budgets. Develop and coordinate outreach to alumni, ideas for webinars and coordinate social media events.

QualificationsBasic Requirements:
  • High School diploma and 5+ years of related experience OR Bachelor’s degree and 0-3 years of related office experience.
  • Event coordination experience.
  • A history of collaboration and team work.
  • Proactive problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Higher Education.
  • Knowledge of GivePulse or ability to learn new systems.
  • Experience ensuring compliance of web page content with W3C and Section 508 (ADA) accessibility standards preferred. Ongoing training will be provided to help keep up with current trends and requirements.
