Job Details
This is a grant funded position through the Maryland Department of Labor Adult Education and Family Literacy Services grant. The Assessment and Data Assistant (ADA) provides administrative support to the English Language Learning and Adult Education Intake/Assessment Specialist and the Management Information Systems Specialist. The ADA is part of the assessment team that conducts intake for all students entering the Adult Basic Education/GED Program and assists with the preparation of assessment materials, scoring of assessments and data entry.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:Duties and responsibilities include:Preparing materials and supplies for orientations and assessments
Assisting with the assessment administration process
Following up with students who miss assessment sessions or who do not report to assigned classes
Filing confidential student information and entering student assessment, demographics and intake information into a state database
Monitoring student attendance and encouraging retention
Providing information to students and instructors regarding services/resources available through the college or community agencies when appropriate
Assisting the IAS and MIS Specialists with the collection and preparation of data required by the grant
Attending state training
Performing other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or Equivalent required
One year of experience with data collection and general office duties required; some experience in preparing reports
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Proven ability to maintain records and organize information
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision and with attention to details and deadlines
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and the public
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings, to accommodate the needs of the program
Associate’s Degree
Experience administering educational assessments
Experience working with the ABE, ESL and GED student population in an educational setting
Experience using LACES, Colleague or Maryland Workforce Exchange databases
Experience using social media for recruitment or retention
