The Department of Economics, Finance and Legal Studies in the Culverhouse College of Business at The University of Alabama invites applications for an opening for an associate or full professor in economics beginning August 16, 2020. Primary duties include teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, engaging in a research program that results in articles in outstanding scholarly publications, and performing service as assigned by the Department, College, and University.
Required Qualifications: (1) A doctoral degree in economics, or a closely related field; (2) record of high quality research published in high-quality journals consistent with appointment at associate/full professor; (3) demonstrated high-quality teaching; (4) candidates with a record of high-quality research in environmental and natural resources economics, particularly in the areas of water, energy or climate. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and achievements.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to those with a track record of externally-funded research.

The economics program offers degrees at the undergraduate, Masters, and Ph.D. levels. Our Masters programs include a full-time MBA, a STEM-pathway to the MBA, a weekend executive MBA program, and a one-year MA in Economics and MS in Finance. The department offers an excellent research environment including generous travel support, an active seminar series, and Ph.D. graduate research assistants. The Culverhouse College of Business was established in 1919 and is accredited AACSB International. The College has state-of-the art facilities to support research and teaching, including multimedia classrooms and the Bruno Business Library. The College is also home to a world-class Business Analytics Lab, Statistics Consulting and Research Lab, and a newly-established Behavior Lab to support faculty research activities. The University of Alabama is located in Tuscaloosa, a city of about 100,000 people, located an hour’s drive from Birmingham (a metropolitan area with about 1 million people).
