Job Summary

The International Health, Safety and Security Coordinator will provide strategic support to the International Programs Office leadership in matters related to international health, safety, and security.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor and analyze a variety of sources to stay current with world news and events; provide analytical reports as needed
  • Assist in tracking and maintaining data related to health, safety, and security incidents abroad
  • Assist in managing the university’s Travel Registry including administrative tasks, maintenance, and responding to questions from travelers as well as department Certified Travel Preparers
  • Analyze data sets and produce reports as needed
  • Along with the Director, represent UMass Amherst in the professional organization Pulse
  • Participate in any necessary travel review including specialized communications for certain high-risk destinations
  • Manage the registration process and conduct customized Pre-Departure Orientations for Registered Student Organizations traveling abroad
  • Collaborate with the IPO Associate Provost and Education Abroad Director as needed
  • Perform country and regional specific research as needed
  • Other projects or duties as assigned
  • Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Interest in global affairs, international security, political science, etc.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Superb attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate well with a broad spectrum of stakeholders here and abroad
  • Ability to work with absolute discretion in sensitive situations
  • Good technical skills and experience of working with databases
  • Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Experience studying or living abroad preferred
  • Knowledge of a second language preferred
  • Experience working in higher education preferred
  • Experience with Terra Dotta Software preferred
  • Work Schedule

    Monday – Friday, approximately 15-20 hours per week

    Salary Information

    $31.00 per hour
