Job Description:


The Art & Design Department seeks a highly motivated designer and artist with a commitment to foundation-level teaching in visual art & design, a strong knowledge of curriculum development and assessment, and an understanding of portfolio standards for students transferring to BFA programs. The successful candidate will teach foundation courses in 3D design and sculpture, with the possibility of additional foundation-level courses in the applicant's areas of expertise, while actively participating in the development of an interdisciplinary art & design curriculum. Competency should include traditional and digital 3D art and design technologies as well as experience managing and maintaining workshop equipment and materials. Experience in training students, student assistants, and instructors on the proper and safe use of workshop equipment and materials is strongly desired. In addition to teaching a full-time load of 15 contact hours, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in curriculum development and assessment, oversee studio classrooms, and contribute to departmental and campus activities that support the college mission.



Requirements:


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree in visual art or design and a minimum of one year college-level teaching is required. The successful candidate will show proficiency in teaching a range of 3D media, including but not limited to modeling, casting, carving, assembling, and digital prototyping; skills in digital design and fabrication, electronics, and interactive media are highly valued. All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Three years of college-level teaching, preferably at the community college level, is strongly preferred. Preferred candidates will also demonstrate experience in overseeing & maintaining a 3D/sculpture studio with a wide range of tools and machines.




Additional Information:


SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $64,841 plus excellent benefits.
