Description:

The School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership at the University of Washington Tacoma invites applications for a temporary Clinical Placement Coordinator/Part-time Lecturer. This position will be filled at the rank of part-time lecturer, temporary and will be appointed from 11/16/2019 to 06/15/2019. This position is contingent upon available funding.

UW Tacoma’s School of Nursing and Healthcare Leadership current offerings include RN-BSN, MN, and Healthcare Leadership. The RN-BSN program focuses on critical thinking, cultural diversity, communication, and working with communities. The Master of Nursing (MN) Program study options are Leader in Healthcare Delivery and Nurse Educator. The Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Healthcare Leadership is for students who wish to pursue a career in a leadership role.

This part-time lecturer, temporary position will be responsible for planning, developing, and evaluating clinical sites consistent with program and course objectives; coordinating clinical placements; working with agency personnel and UW Tacoma faculty, students, and staff to facilitate effective learning in clinical sites; and collaborating with peers and representing the school. Teaching responsibilities will be assigned based on the education, experience and expertise of the successful candidate and composes approximately 50% of responsibilities and may include team teaching, fieldwork, and classroom teaching; other tasks as needed.


Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution; will consider applicants with Masters degree to be awarded by December 2020
  • Unencumbered RN license in Washington state
  • At least 3 years experience as a RN
  • Commitment to and understanding of the learning needs of diverse adult learners
  • Experience in clinical nursing education, staff development, or clinical placement
  • Familiarity with South Puget Sound clinical agencies
  • Effective organizational skills, ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communicator--in writing, electronically, orally; effective presentation skills
  • Work creatively and effectively with individuals and groups
  • Skill in using Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Must be available to work with students, faculty, and agency staff during evening hours and weekends if needed
