The Department of Physics & Engineering at The University of Scranton invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position to begin August 2020.

Responsibilities include teaching a variety of undergraduate lectures/labs, maintaining an active research program involving students, contributing to curriculum development and program assessment, providing service to the university, and effectuating a new program in mechanical engineering.

All candidates must indicate how they would help communicate and support the Catholic and Jesuit identity and mission of the University. A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering field is required. A BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required. Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

- A commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring

- The expertise to teach several core undergraduate mechanical engineering courses, including but not limited to manufacturing processes, materials engineering, vibration engineering, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and senior design

- An ability and desire to effectuate the new program in mechanical engineering through implementing curriculum improvement, selecting appropriate laboratory equipment, and working with architects to redesign existing space for laboratory instruction

- Sustained research/scholarship with undergraduate student participation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
