The Assistant Vice President/Executive Director of Counseling and Health Services provides vision, leadership and direction for a comprehensive, integrated health and well-being approach to the health, mental health, and career needs. The AVP/Executive Director supervises the Hart Career Center, Counseling and Consultation Services and the Arnold Health Service. He/she serves as the Executive Director for the daily programmatic and service operations for both health and counseling services.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, selects, trains, mentors and evaluates a diverse professional staff in career services, health services and counseling services.
  • Researches, develops and collaborates to implement a comprehensive health and well-being outreach program for students, including health, mental health, sexual health, alcohol and other drug education, sexual assault and other key campus health issues. Collaborative partners include, but not limited to, athletics, residence life, fraternity and sorority life, student activities, diversity and inclusion and Wellness. Convenes a healthy campus advisory committee.
  • Provides leadership and direction for the daily operations of Counseling and Consultation Services. Maintains budget authority and oversight. Provides counseling support to students, both individually and groups as needed (approximately 6-8 hours/week). Advocates for and supports both individual students and the broad student experience by providing intervention support as part of the Student Success Team and the University crisis on-call response. Manages crises involving students as needed.
  • Provides leadership and direction for the daily operations of Arnold Health Services. Maintains budgetary authority and oversight. Serves as a liaison to our attending physician regarding procedural changes or needs. Maintains all administrative compliance reporting including state immunization reports, DHS reporting, etc. Provides communication to students/families regarding student health insurance.
  • Serves on a variety of division committees including Professional Development Committee (chair) and Senior Leadership Award selection committee (chair).

Requirements:

  • PhD in counseling and licensure with a minimum of five years progressive leadership experience and related administrative responsibilities on a college or university campus.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate a strong leadership vision for student health and well-being and inspire and engage in collaboration with a diverse student, faculty and staff constituency.
  • Must live within 30 miles to Bloomington for on-call response.
