Special Instructions to Applicants
The Director of the Children's Center for Communication and Developmentis employed full-time on a 12-month basis and adheres to all University,College, and School policies. The Centeris under the administrative authority of the College of Nursing and HealthProfessions and the School of Speech and Hearing Sciences.

Job Summary
The director functions as the administrative leader and guides theCenter in fund raising, research, student and professional training, in providingdirect services and family support, and also serves on the Center’s Advisory Board.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Develops/approves/maintains standards, policies, and procedures for the operation of the Center.

  2. Supervises all aspects of the program including but not limited to research, philosophy of operations, leadership/guidance, providing professional services, and does so in a timely, fair, and objective manner.

  3. Responsible for direct supervision of speech-language pathology services and for managing treatment in related fields such as Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Special Education, Audiology, and others.

  4. Maintains open channels of communication with the Director, School of Speech and Hearing Sciences. Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with all program personnel.

  5. Evaluates work performance and participates in professional development of all staff.

  6. Responsible for providing a quality experience for University and community college students placed in the Center.

  7. Conducts public relations with community organizations. Prepares reports/correspondence to agencies, employees, and the community.

  8. Responsible for budget management and ensures that the program is self-supporting.

  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree inspeech-language pathology or related academic field and certification by theAmerican Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) in speech pathology. Must be qualified to obtain a Mississippilicense in speech pathology.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The applicant should be an effective communicator in both oral and written domains in English.
