Job Description Summary

Husson University’s College of Science and Humanities invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in Exercise Science to begin in fall 2020.

This Exercise Science position will complement existing programmatic expertise among faculty in the Department of Science within the College of Science and Humanities, which also offers undergraduate degrees in Health Sciences and Biology, with concentrations available in Biochemistry and Environmental Science. The Exercise Science program is offered in 2-tracks and serves students in preparation of the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program as well as a professional development track.

Duties and Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities associated with this position include teaching Exercise Science courses for undergraduate students in the major and advising. The successful candidate will also fulfill faculty expectations for teaching, service, and scholarship as outlined in university policies. The position is responsible for teaching 24 credits per academic year. Note: this is not an online position, candidates are expected to be on campus.

Education and Experience

The successful candidate should have an earned doctorate (ABD considered) in Exercise Science or a related area and a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching. Candidates should also have the ability and desire to develop and direct scholarly research to engage undergraduate students in the applied areas of exercise science.

Preferred qualifications: Previous higher education teaching experience in the areas of exercise physiology, motor behavior, nutrition, test and measures, exercise prescription and related courses; external certification such as ACSM or CSCS; and experience with accreditation.
