Executive Leadership:
  • Engage in planning meetings and activities, with the center director and advisory team;
  • Manage the scheduling and operations of the center's core activities
  • Assist the director in managing the often-competing interests of the center, including increasing clinical assessments vs. Supporting academic programs vs. Aiding and abetting research innovation fund proposals.

Data Management and Analysis:
  • Create measures related to clinical efficacy of assessment and intervention procedures
  • Manage data.
  • Analyze data regarding the center's initial goals of expanding clinical assessments, promoting pilot research, and enhancing policy initiatives regarding stigma reduction for individuals with learning disorders.
  • Note that data will be used in conjunction with the UC Berkeley Psychology Clinic and the UCSF Dyslexia Center, requiring that the incumbent skillfully negotiate the sometimes-competing goals of these different entities, via evidence-based data analyses.
  • Provide reports on data to director and executive committee. Again, such reports must navigate two different UC campuses (UC Berkeley and UC San Francisco, requiring writing skill, accuracy, collaborative ability, and negotiation skill sets.
  • Some data will emanate from teams of UCSF and UC
  • Berkeley faculty (and trainees) who successfully apply for ‘innovation funds' administered by the center. The Incumbent needs to work with each funded team regarding optimal means of presenting generated data analyses in accordance with center standards and communication goals.
  • Through a process of continuous review with and by the center director, create a working ‘procedures manual' for use by those who follow in this position, to ensure that methods and practices are well documented and subject to fidelity reviews.

Supervise Undergraduates, Graduate Students, and Post-Bac Students:
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate research assistants in psychology, education, and public health, toward the end of enhancing the core activities of the developing Schwab Center.
  • Use data from #2 above to engage students in statistical analyses and, at the same time, provide center conference presentations and journal publications. Such activities require constant monitoring and mentoring related to supervisees' learning of statistical packages and interpreting data output from these packages.
  • Use skill base to work with executive committee and reseach team in publishing results of such work, again with student/supervisee input.
  • Work with faculty in psychology, education, and public health to add to existing undergraduate and graduate course syllabi related to learning, learning science, and clinical/educational assessments.

Procure Needed Assessment Materials and Supplies:
  • Involving test and assessment kits, research supplies for innovation fund awardees continuous inventory of supplies and materials, to engage in prudent use of center funds.
  • Engage in Communication and Outreach—Linking Center Activities and Accomplishments to the Academic And Wider Communities
  • Work with director and executive committee to prepare timely reports on center activities to UC San Francisco Departments of Neurology, Psychiatry, and Pediatrics and UC Berkeley departments and schools of Psychology, Education, and Public Health.
  • Work with public relations divisions of UC San Francisco and UC Berkeley to engage in articles and posts related to explaining and promoting the center's activities

  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams from different campuses (e.g., UCSF, UC Berkeley) to forge complementary objectives and goals
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or equivalent experience/training
