Johnson County Community College is looking to fill a part-time lab aide position in our Photography & Filmmaking program. This position will support the Department of Fine Art, Photo & Film by multi-tasking many responsibilities in the Photography and Filmmaking studios, including but not limited to, taking a significant role in the smooth operation of the facilities in the Fine Arts & Design Studios at JCCC. Duties include supervising open lab hours, managing inventory, equipment maintenance, maintaining labs and studios, assisting students, staff & faculty, and assisting with installing and uninstalling exhibitions. JCCC is located in Overland Park, KS, the second largest city in the state of Kansas and part of the greater Kansas City Metro. The Kansas City Metro is known for its museums, restaurants, and music and art scenes. JCCC is similarly dedicated to creating and maintaining a rich cultural community, with an award-winning contemporary art museum and center for the performing arts located on campus. JCCC is looking for a diverse pool of applicants that will support the Department of Fine Art, Photo & Film in the new Fine Arts & Design Studios at JCCC. We educate a large, diverse student body. Required Skills
  • Familiarity with analog photographic processes and equipment
  • Familiarity with digital photo/filmmaking processes
  • Familiarity with filmmaking and photography cameras
  • Clerical & organizational skills
  • Evidence of reliability
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with a diverse population
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skill
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with office suite software
  • Familiarity with Adobe Suite CC software
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs

Required Experience
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Associates degree or higher preferred
