General Summary: Tracks, investigates and resolves information technology service problems.

Requirements: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) certified or eligible for certification. Work experience in a clinical/medical laboratory. Ability to work flexible hours. Limited travel is required.


1. Maintain a clean and safe lab environment.

2. Prepare labs for MDA 107 (laboratory procedures for the Medical Office), MLA 101 (Laboratory Specimen Processing), PMB111L (Clinical Phlebotomy Lab evening course in the MLA program, and other related labs as assigned. Responsible for proper disposal of biohazard wastes to Stericycle for the following programs:
a. Medical Laboratory Technician; b. Phlebotomy; c. Medical Assisting; d. Pharmacy Technician; e. Nursing; f. Medical Laboratory Assistant

3. Organize lab materials, reagents, and supplies in an orderly fashion.

4. Order testing materials (test kits, reagents) and other miscellaneous supplies used in testing in a cost effective manner.

5. Assemble supplies and equipment needed for each class including preparation of control materials and H20 baths prior to class.

6. Assist instructor during class to facilitate smooth operation of class, participate in demonstrations of specific techniques to students, and prepare lab walk-around for quizzes, mid-term, and finals.

7. Perform after-class procedures by returning all materials/supplies to proper storage areas after class; cleaning/washing all non-disposable glassware; disposing of biologically hazardous materials in proper manner as per OSHA regulations and CDC recommendations; handling and disposing of contaminated sharps in the proper manner.

8. Maintain instruments and instrument procedure manual. Check refrigerator and incubator temperature daily.

9. Maintain and update various required manuals including the MSDS manual as per OSHA regulations.

10. Assist in preparation for NAACLS inspection.

11. Courier to hospitals to pick up donated and requested materials and specimens.

12. Prepare and maintain microbiological unknowns and stock cultures.

13. Wash student lab coats (MLT, MDA 107, PHB 111 and other related labs as assigned).

14. Perform other related duties as required or assigned.

Clearances: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and in order to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
