The multicultural specialist provides direct clinical services to university students, including individual and group psychotherapy, triage and walk-in services, crisis management, and workshops. This very crucial role provides outreach, consultation and mental health support to diverse, historically marginalized, and under-represented populations at the university. This position also provides support and training in multiculturalism to department staff. Additionally, this position provides clinical supervision and training seminars to psychology and social work trainees.
The multicultural specialist collaborates with other campus departments as appropriate for the treatment of CAPS patients and ensures that issues of diversity and social justice are considered in all assessment, treatment, referral, and training services provided.Who We AreCAPS fosters the well-being of students and helps them succeed by providing a full range of clinical services, consultation, and outreach to the campus community. We are committed to affirming diversity and seek to provide a safe and welcoming environment for everyone we serve.What Your Key Responsibilities Will BeClinical Services and Outreach

• Provide individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, triage/walk-in, workshops, and consultation to students, faculty, staff, and parents. Services are primarily offered within a brief therapy framework.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation via the EHR.
• Provide clinical consultation to trainees.
• Provide and coordinate multicultural outreach, training and consultation on mental health and wellness issues, with particular focus on serving the needs of diverse, historically marginalized, and underrepresented student populations.

Supervision and Administration

• Complete clinical documentation, case management and case disposition; coordination of special projects or areas of responsibility.
• Provide supervision to CAPS trainees.
• Participate in campus committees or meetings as assigned.

Training

• Provide training and consultation to CAPS staff to further develop and promote cultural competency in service delivery.
• Provide trainings on multiculturalism within the CAPS training program.

• Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited program, or master’s degree in counseling or social work. For psychologists, completion of an APA-accredited internship.
• Licensed in Colorado prior to hire. If not licensed in Colorado, then licensed in another state with the ability to be licensed in Colorado within 6 months.
• Interest and experience providing clinical services and outreach programming to students representing diverse socio-economic, racial/ethnic, international, and LGBTQ+ identities.
• Experience with a range of clinical issues, ranging from developmental issues to more serious psychopathology.
• Experience providing brief therapy.

• Experience providing group and individual supervision to trainees.
• Experience working with minority, international students and/or under-served populations.
