University of Southern Maine invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in the Criminology Department, to begin Fall 2020. The primary areas of specialization are race and crime, globalization and crime, crime in the global South, and comparative criminology, although other areas of expertise will be considered. Applicants are expected to have an established record of excellent and innovative undergraduate teaching, an active research program, and a demonstrated commitment to academic advising and university service. The teaching load is three courses per semester and opportunities exist to teach during both summer and winter sessions. The Criminology Department offers a four-year program leading to a bachelor of arts degree in criminology. The program provides students with a liberal arts education whose focus is the complex relations among crime, law, and society, and which emphasizes the social sciences. The curriculum is a rigorous series of courses which provides students with a comprehensive knowledge of crime and crime control in contemporary, historical, and comparative perspective. Qualifications:

Required: Ph.D. in sociology, criminology, or related discipline at the time of appointment.
