Description

The Clerk V will be part of the clerical support staffwithin the Neuroscience Department for the Lewis Katz School of Medicine. He/she will participate in the daily clerical operations of a department,establishing and maintaining work flow, setting priorities, providing clericalsupport services to department faculty, residents & staff.

Primary responsibilities will include; answering telephonesand triaging patient & business calls; handling patient queries andrequests; inputting insurance information and biographical data into IDX; schedulingpatients for office visits and tests/procedures; obtaining and followingthrough with prior authorizations or pre-certs for medical tests and/ormedications, obtain referrals as needed; arranging elective admissions; assistwith arranging urgent same day or next day admissions; arranging for outpatientinfusions and processing all paperwork for associated infusions; assisting withfinancial services as needed for treatments not authorized or covered underpatient’s insurance; check in/out & front desk functions includingcollecting co-pays following Temple cash/check handling policies; assist withtraining new staff & student worker; follow all Temple University andTemple University Physicians policies & procedures; participates inmultidisciplinary meetings/clinics as needed to facilitate and confirm patientservices; arranges for home care and home infusions obtaining authorizationsfor care/medication from insurance carriers when needed; assists in trackingtreatments, infusions and follow up care as required by specialty; arranges forDME (durable medical equipment)as required.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

 At least three yearsrelated experience in a medical office setting. An equivalent combination ofeducation and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:

*Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.

*Demonstrated ability to utilize specialized medicalsoftware for scheduling purposes.

*Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

*Demonstrated computer skills including proficiency withMicrosoft Office Suite software programs.

*Demonstrated ability to focus on completion of tasks andobjectives.

*Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills,along with the ability to handle multiple tasks with strong attention todetail.

*Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communicationskills. 


Preferred:

*Experience using EPIC and IDX.
