Assistant Director of Advising - Student Services

Position Summary:

The Assistant Director of Advising will train and supervise a team of Student Services Advisors that offers academic advising to the National & Global student population. This position will require understanding of all academic program requirements and proficiency in the internal policies and procedures as related to academic advising.This position will require skill in innovation, creativity, forward thinking, effective internal and external communication, timely problem solving, trouble shooting, and conflict resolution.

NOTE: This position will not be available to begin until January 1, 2020.

Master Degree Required

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and be responsible for identifying and maintaining tools and written policies and procedures to ensure advising consistency across all regions.
Monitor, supervise, and mentor a team of advisors and maintain constant contact with these employees (via telephone, email, personal visits, video, etc.) Understand and be able to communicate Financial Aid and Accounting processing in order to provide cross-functional services throughout the advising process. Act as liaison between the Office of Student Services and other university departments to troubleshoot and problem solve individual student issues. Keep informed of trends, best practices, and innovative ideas and network with other advising professionals by participation in advising and student services professional organizations.
