The department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for a tenure-track appointment in Critical Studies of Public Health. The position requires a strong research dossier in this area. All methodological approaches are welcome but the preference is for candidates with research expertise in quantitative methods and the ability to teach quantitative methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Knowledge of the French language is an asset. A PhD in Sociology or a related discipline is required at the time of appointment.
The selected candidate will receive a tenure-track appointment in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, which is part of the Faculty of Arts and Science. About the Department
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is a dual department encompassing research and teaching in both Sociology and Anthropology at all levels of the university curriculum. It builds on a rich and creative tradition to address pressing contemporary social problems in a variety of cultural contexts relating to the personal, the local, and the global. The diverse variety of student and faculty interests and backgrounds makes working in our department a unique and rewarding experience.
About the Faculty
The Faculty of Arts and Science was created in July 1977 through the merger of the former Loyola Faculty of Arts and Science, the former Sir George Williams Faculty of Arts, and the former Sir George Williams Faculty of Science.
The Faculty consists of 27 academic departments, colleges, institutes, and schools as well as more than 20 research centres. The Faculty is committed to responsible and innovative leadership in developing and disseminating knowledge and values and encouraging constructive social criticism. Qualifications
Qualifications are a PhD completed before the position start date, a strong orientation to academic research and evidence of teaching effectiveness. The ability to establish partnerships with external actors and/or a program of research integrating two or more disciplines are strong assets. Excellent communication skills are required. The language of instruction at Concordia is English, however, knowledge of French is an asset.
