The NASAD-accredited Department of Art at Metropolitan State University of Denver invites applications for the establishment of the Department Pool for Affiliate/Part-Time Instructors of Studio Art (Two-Dimensional Media). Qualified applicants will be placed in the departmental pool and will be considered for affiliate/part-time departmental needs beginning Fall 2019 through Spring 2022.
The University is particularly interested in applicants who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for under-represented groups.

Teach one to three classes in studio foundations, drawing, painting, printmaking, or other media as appropriate. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.
Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired to teach on a per credit hour basis for specific classes, as needed, usually on a semester by semester basis. Affiliate faculty are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University’s benefit program. All such teaching assignments are dependent on budget and enrollment. An affiliate faculty member’s duties include: meeting assigned classes or delivering on-line content consistent with university, college/school, and department policies; providing instruction in assigned classes consistent with the content and learning objectives of the regular course syllabus and, if appropriate, with department course coordination policies; being available, either face to face or electronically, to students in assigned classes to provide additional academic support as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment; and complying with university-wide student evaluation of instruction policies and peer observation policies.Required Qualifications
MA in appropriate field.Preferred Qualifications
MFA in appropriate field. Additional professional experience is preferred, and teaching experience.
Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse urban student population including (but not limited to) students of color, LBGTQIA students, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English language learners.
IMPORTANT: Candidates selected to teach one or more courses will be required to submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities where degrees were awarded prior to a contract being finalized. Continuing part-time faculty who already have official transcripts on file do not need to re-submit them, but are encouraged to upload copies for consideration as part of the application.
