As a representative of the College and the Development Division, the Regional Advancement Officer manages the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of Non-U.S. donors and prospective donors, primarily based in India and the Middle East, at the $100,000 and above level.

  • Manage the College's relationship with approximately 150-175 India and Middle East-based individuals who are capable of making gifts of $100,000 and above.
  • Ability to work independently and (particularly) to formulate creative strategies for major gifts advancement.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement appropriate strategies for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donor prospects. Consult with Development colleagues, Alumni and Friends Network, administrators, faculty and other volunteers as appropriate.
  • Conduct an average minimum of 18 face-to-face meetings per month.
  • Travel throughout India and to key areas of the Middle East consistently.
  • Identify and solicit 25-30 key prospects annually.
  • Prepare proposals for gift solicitations based on annual goals.
  • Oversee all gift activities in assigned geographic region/s as requested by the Director of Regional & International Advancement.
  • Prepare written briefings for senior leadership and faculty visits with donors and prospective donors, as well as follow-up documentation and correspondence.
  • Plan and manage events in collaboration with Alumni & Friends Network (AFN) related to the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.
  • Work cooperatively with other staff in expanding the pool of volunteers and prospective donors and in coordinating solicitation strategies and campaign activities.
  • Assist AFN in building a strong volunteer network in assigned regions.
  • Partner with The Fund for Babson to increase participation in the region.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Minimum Level of Education Required Bachelor's Degree

Position Knowledge/Skills & Abilities Requirements:

  • Must have at least 5-7 years of fundraising major gifts experience with a proven track record of closing 6-figure gifts and above
  • Must have exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills, and the ability to be effective at engaging with all levels of the College
  • Demonstrated ability to establish creditability and confidence with donors and prospective donors
  • Ability to work with ethnically, culturally, and socially diverse students, staff, faculty, and other constituencies
  • Must have exceptional organizational, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Must be flexible and willing to assume new tasks and special projects
  • Must have strong technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

Working Conditions:

  • Extensive global travel required (up to 40% of the time)
  • If based in the U.S., must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License for one year, and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College's insurer's criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College's vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee's driving record based on the College insurer's criteria; and safety training as required by management.
  • Must have ability to obtain visitor's visa to India
  • May require occasional nights and/or weekend work
Additional Experience, Skills & Abilities:

  • Fluency or proficiency in languages in addition to English
  • Prior fundraising experience in an academic environment preferred
  • Prior fundraising for a US based institution preferred
  • Experience fundraising in India and/or the Middle East region preferred
