Peer Advisors will assist these students with Focus 2, our career and major exploration program. Additionally, Peer Advisors will help develop and coordinate outreach programming to promote advising services and other key advising opportunities.
THIS JOB IS HIRING FOR 3 FULL SEMESTERS. YOU MUST PLAN TO ATTEND SHERIDAN COLLEGE THROUGH THE ENTRIRE NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR.
Reports ToThad RigbyEducation/Qualifications•Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college
•Sheridan College Student currently enrolled
•Must have at least 1 completed semester of college
•Cumulative GPA is 2.0 or greater
•Productivity Skills- time management, keeping meeting notes, and organizing student files
•Basic Computer Skills- Ability to navigate MyNWCCD and Student Planning
•Must have good interpersonal communication skills and be comfortable working with a variety of students, faculty, and staff.
•Must be able to quickly build relationships with various types of students
•Self-motivated and able to work independently
•Maintains confidentiality with students and student records
•General office working conditions
•Occasionally Peer Advisors will meet with students at various locations on campus
These are the job duties for required of the position.
Percentage of time100Responsibility/Duty•Assist undecided majors with academic and career exploration
•Aids in problem solving and referral assistance for students
•Creates, assists, and develops academic and registration outreach activities
•Assists with reviewing student education plans and scheduling
•Be aware of current enrollment service processes
•Performs other duties as assigned
