Peer Advisors will be responsible for assisting the Advising office supporting students who are undecided about their major. Peer Advisors will assist these students with Focus 2, our career and major exploration program. Additionally, Peer Advisors will help develop and coordinate outreach programming to promote advising services and other key advising opportunities.

THIS JOB IS HIRING FOR 3 FULL SEMESTERS. YOU MUST PLAN TO ATTEND SHERIDAN COLLEGE THROUGH THE ENTRIRE NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR.

Reports ToThad RigbyEducation/Qualifications

•Good Conduct and Academic Standing with the college
•Sheridan College Student currently enrolled
•Must have at least 1 completed semester of college
•Cumulative GPA is 2.0 or greater

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

•Productivity Skills- time management, keeping meeting notes, and organizing student files
•Basic Computer Skills- Ability to navigate MyNWCCD and Student Planning
•Must have good interpersonal communication skills and be comfortable working with a variety of students, faculty, and staff.
•Must be able to quickly build relationships with various types of students
•Self-motivated and able to work independently
•Maintains confidentiality with students and student records

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

•General office working conditions
•Occasionally Peer Advisors will meet with students at various locations on campus
