General Summary

The Department of Political Science invites applications for part-time lecturer positions in its undergraduate programs and the NASPAA-accredited Master of Public Administration. Program needs vary by semester, but primary needs at the undergraduate level are for introductory courses and occasional upper-level courses in political theory or other subfields. At the graduate level, teaching can involve courses related to local government administration, nonprofit management, budgeting and financial management, personnel, public policy, and research methods.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.

Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

For all positions, teaching experience and the Ph.D. are preferred, but applicants who are ABD or hold a master's degree with relevant graduate course work will also be considered; relevant research experience is also desirable. For courses in the MPA program, a master's degree and relevant work experience are the minimum qualifications.
