General Summary

The School of Nursing invites applications for possible part-time positions teaching nursing courses in the classroom, clinical or online setting. Potential courses for pre-licensure students include Fundamentals, Maternal-Child Nursing (obstetrics), Child-Parent Nursing (pediatrics), Adult Health Nursing (med-surg), Community Health Nursing, or Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing clinical courses. Online courses for RN-BSN completion students includes Health Assessment, Essentials of Professional Nursing, Nursing Research, Community Health nursing and/or nursing electives of interest.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: providing instruction and evaluation to students in the assigned course, meeting all agency requirements by required by the clinical site, meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, following syllabus as provided, assessing student work and performance, working with lead faculty to provide optimal learning experiences, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules in addition to performing related duties as required by the School. Instructors teaching in clinical or community agencies must also meet all agency requirements as required by the School and the clinical agency.

Qualifications

A minimum of an earned Master's degree in nursing, along with 2 years clinical practice within the specialty area is required. Prior teaching experience is preferred; particularly in the online teaching environment.
