About the College of Engineering: The College of Engineering, formed on July 1, 2012, is building a vibrant academic environment that fosters engineering education in a liberal arts environment and research that addresses critical societal needs. The College offers eight accredited undergraduate and seven graduate engineering degree programs spanning all engineering fields. Position Summary

The College of Engineering at the University of Georgia (UGA) invites candidates for a full-time (academic year) tenure-track position at the assistant professor rank in the area of hydrologic, hydraulic, and water resources engineering. Special consideration may be given to exceptional candidates at the rank of associate or full professor. Selection of rank will be commensurate with candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Successful candidates will join a growing and interdisciplinary team of researchers and educators in the School of Environmental, Civil, Agricultural, and Mechanical Engineering (ECAM) and work closely with colleagues affiliated with the Institute for Resilient Infrastructure Systems (IRIS) (http://iris.uga.edu/). The candidate will be expected to 1) contribute to the Civil and Environmental Engineering program’s emphasis on climate resilient water and transportation infrastructure and establish a research program of national and international prominence, 2) develop courses and pedagogical approaches to educate UGA engineers, and 3) partner with faculty in other disciplines and with industries and government to build a vibrant research program that leads to collaborations across and integration of multiple fields of study. The successful candidate will be expected to address interdisciplinary research problems that complement and expand current activities in IRIS and the College, and to collaborate effectively with other faculty within the College and across the University.

Additional Requirements

A Ph.D. degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering or a related discipline is required and must be completed by the start date. To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as an associate or full professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification

Candidates with Professional Engineering (PE) license or completion of the FE examination with plans to pursue PE registration are preferred. Individuals currently employed in industry are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Priority will be given to outstanding candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: natural and nature-based infrastructure engineering, climate resilient water and transportation systems, stormwater and floodplain management, watershed systems and ecological engineering, and integration of nature-based and conventional infrastructure solutions.

Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their alignment with the focus areas given above, their academic credentials, their record of excellence in research, teaching, and scholarly activities, potential for success in developing funded research programs, professional service, communication skills, and their potential to make exceptional contributions in research, teaching, and the engineering profession.
