Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Law Enforcement Lieutenant.

Under supervision of the Captain, this position is administrative in nature and assists the chief law enforcement officer in directing the law enforcement and public safety activities at the university. It requires the Lieutenant to assume command in the absence of higher ranking police administrators and to exercise independent judgment in the formulation and execution of departmental policies and procedures.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Supervises people whose duties include the investigation, pursuit, apprehension, and arrest of law violators or suspected law violators.
- Directs and participates in the investigation of crimes and other related law enforcement incidents of importance.
- Directs daily operations of road patrol, traffic and support functions of the University Police Department.
- Directs and supervises university law enforcement personnel in the daily performance of law enforcement, security and traffic control duties. Responsible for scheduling, deploying, training, discipline and evaluation of all assigned law enforcement personnel. Prepares directives, reviews for approval duty schedules and work assignments of personnel.
- Plans, organizes, directs and/or participates in the implementation of law enforcement, security, traffic control, and crime prevention programs within the University and reviews such programs.
- Coordinates security and staff assignments for university special events. Assist the training coordinator with programs in the department necessary for maintaining law enforcement certification.
- Reviews and approves Police Reports.
- Prepares and updates departmental general orders, standing operating procedures and other policies.
- Responsible for disciple and welfare of all personnel assigned to this command.
- Maintains liaison with the administrators of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies in the implementation and coordination of law enforcement programs of the department.
- Maintains liaison with and attends meetings with various university departments and makes recommendations to the Chief of Police. Performs other duties as assigned.
Four years of sworn law enforcement or sworn investigative experience and the ability to supervise people whose duties include the investigation, pursuit, apprehension, and arrest of law violators or suspected law violators required.Salary:$69,000College or Department:Campus PoliceLocation:Boca RatonWork Days and Hours:Monday - Friday 8 hour shifts.
