Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit

In the Bryan School of Business & Economics, we create and disseminate knowledge about the theory and practice of business. In addition to our courses and research, we accomplish this through hands-on projects, global experiences, and outreach to the community. Our work produces principled leaders and exceptional problem solvers who have a global perspective, an innovative mindset, a broad understanding of sustainability, and a commitment to improve the organizations in which they work and the communities in which they live.

The Office of External Affairs has responsibility for the following major functions of the Bryan School:

  • Marketing & Communications for the entire School (including web & website)
  • Corporate outreach to industry/employers/business community
  • Graduate student recruiting for seven graduate programs
  • Alumni engagement
  • Events management
  • Graduate and undergraduate student professional development
  • Executive Education
Position Summary

This position is responsible for measurably increasing the enrollment of qualified graduate students to the various programs available in the Bryan School. This position is primarily externally focused, requiring substantial local, regional, national and (possibly) international travel.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree OR Bachelor’s degree, with at least 2 years of work experience in related fields. Proficiency with productivity tools such as M/S Word, Excel and presentations tools.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and CertificatesPreferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree (e.g., MBA, Personnel Administration, or Communications). Broad knowledge and experience in recruiting processes is a plus. Strong business networking, sales skills, and proficiency in the use of CRM tools.

Essential Tasks

Develop and communicate an annual graduate recruitment strategy to accommodate the graduate programs of the Bryan School. This responsibility will ensure that graduate application goals are set for each respective program, communicated and create the necessary collaboration among all the Program Managers and respective Department Heads of the Bryan School.

Essential Tasks

Implement major strategies to drive annual growth in graduate program applications across the various programs. This includes, but is not limited to, the following actions:
a. External engagements with industry and higher educational organizations
b. External engagements with prospective graduate recruits
c. External engagements with formal recruiting events
d. Innovative methods that position the Bryan School as the graduate programs of choice.

Provide program leadership and employee mentoring

Essential Tasks

Supervision of the Call Center initiative, employee(s) & GA’s. Early personal engagement with prospective students increases the changes they will apply to our programs. The person(s) manning the Call Center must be taught the intricacies of each of the graduate programs offered, as well as “telephone selling & etiquette” skills. Since this is a numbers-driven initiative, record-keeping of activities must be accurate and timely. As the Supervisor of this program, establishing business protocols, providing the necessary training and managing the activities consistently and constantly is paramount.

Essential Tasks

As an integral member of the Office of External Affairs within the Bryan School, provide meaningful contributions for the various programs managed by the Office. Moreover, fostering close collaboration with members of the team responsible for employer engagement and graduate student professional development is necessary.
