Laborer Job Number Full/Part Time Schedule Salary 201906143181 Full Time Other $35,078 - $48,108 Position Information The Laborer relocates, assembles, and dismantles furnishings, equipment, materials, supplies, temporary structures, and stages for classes, meetings, special campus events or maintenance jobs. Performs loading, transportation, and unloading of trucks and other vehicles. Operates, cleans, and maintains tools and equipment. This position assists the UCR Transfer Station by emptying refuse and recycle bins, sweeping the area surrounding the bins, and removing litter. May assist other Facilities Services units with general housekeeping or tasks based on operational needs.

Facilities Services is one of the largest departments at UC Riverside employing nearly 400 career employees. Facilities Services provides exceptional service in maintaining an environment conducive of teaching, learning, living, working and research for the entire campus community. The department maintains buildings, facilities and landscape totaling over 6 million square feet across 1,350 acres of campus. The work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Minimum Requirements Ability to perform general maintenance, facilities, warehouse, or related heavy manual tasks.

Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in the English language with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to work effectively, following through on assignments with minimal direction and fluctuating workload.

Ability to perform basic math calculations. Ability to read plans and specifications.

Ability to work a flexible schedule (weekends, early mornings, evenings, and holidays) as needed to accommodate campus event schedules.

Physical ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds. Able to walk, stand, lift, bend, kneel, twist, and stoop for variable and/or extended periods of time. Ability to work indoors or outdoors with variable temperatures and conditions; including dust, smog, rain or temperatures exceeding 100 degrees.

Experience and skill to prioritize work orders, routine work, emergency requests and the ability to choose the proper materials and equipment required to complete work in the most expeditious and safe manner.

Ability to perform work in compliance with industry and campus safety protocols. Experience in the safe operation of vehicles such as pick-ups with lift gates, stake beds, box trucks, boom trucks and fork lifts. Ability to utilize safety glasses, gloves, or other safety equipment. Ability to safely move heavy objects such as large refrigerators, staging, laboratory instruments and tables, etc. utilizing various material handling equipment including, but not limited to, hydraulic pallet jacks, appliances, furniture, heavy equipment dollies, rolling carts, hydraulic lifts, and manual lifts. Experience working with various hand and power tools such as hand-trucks, drills, screw drivers, hammers, wrenches, sockets and other tools used in the moving, assembly and dismantling of furniture, equipment, temporary structures, shelters, and stages.

Experience performing routine custodial duties such as cleaning, mopping, sanitizing restrooms, and vacuuming.

Hired candidate must pass a background check through the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI); must obtain or possess a valid CA Driver License in accordance with California Department of Motor Vehicles; must participate in the campus DMV pull; and successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination. Preferred Qualifications One year working experience as laborer, general maintenance, facilities, warehouse or related experience; or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.

Forklift certified.
