Requirements

The Associate Director of Family Philanthropy exists to ensure strong pipeline development from discovery to solicitation to gift closing. This position is designed to build connectivity and philanthropic intent among the Georgetown parent community who currently have no relationship with the University. The primary responsibilities of the Associate Director include securing and managing a portfolio of parent donors with a capacity of making gifts in the of $5,000-$100,000+ range, executing parent cultivation/engagement events, managing the Parents Ambassadors Circle, and working closely with University-wide campus offices (Admissions, Student Affairs, Advancement Marketing and Communications, and Alumni Relations) to implement ongoing parent communications, events, and initiatives.

The Associate Director will report to the Senior Director of Development (SDOD), Parents and will help ensure the development of a strong parent community across Advancement's key regions as the University's capital campaign continues. The position will ensure the solicitation of qualified prospect leads developed by the discovery initiative, as well as do extensive prospecting to find new donors, with the ultimate goal of discovering and soliciting those who will support this campaign. This position will ensure that donors at all levels are engaged with the University. This individual will coordinate with other teams as needed to cultivate and steward donors and prospects.

The Associate Director of Family Philanthropy will have duties that include, but are not limited to the following:

Fundraising
  • Develops and implements effective strategy for attaining specific fundraising goals with current parents from all four Georgetown schools and programs. This includes meeting stated dollar goals, visits, and proposal submissions annually.
  • Responsible for all major elements of the solicitation process from cultivation to solicitation to stewardship.
  • Leverages gifts with Parent Ambassador Circle and ensure proper management of major gift prospects.


Strategy Development and Analytics
  • Ensures the development of a strong parent community across Advancement's key regions as the University's capital campaign continues.
  • Assists with developing and implementing overall strategy for development initiatives involving parents within assigned regions, including coordination with discovery initiative, constituent major gift units, and regional colleagues.
  • Ensures that donors at all levels are engaged with the University by coordinating with other teams as needed to cultivate and steward donors and prospects.


Events & Board Engagement
  • Collaborates within the regional team to plan and execute events as necessary.
  • Works with SDOD, Parents to create and build a Parents Ambassadors Circle focused on annual fund donors at the $5-10K level.


Managing Internal Partner Relations
  • Ensures seamless partnerships with campus offices.
  • Provides parent voice on internal partnerships with other units and focuses on communications related to stewardship.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate communications with parents.


Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 3-5 years of work experience, preferably in a development/fundraising environment
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft suite
  • Broad knowledge of and experience with research materials, including online informational databases
  • Must understand and practice a high standard of confidentiality and ethical information collection
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong collaborative and project management skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects
  • Tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality in dealing with members of the University community and the University's donors
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively, at times under tight deadlines with teamwork, flexibility, and efficiency
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative as appropriate
  • Attention to detail is critical with external relations focus
