Job Details

The University of North Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Elementary Education. Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education from an accredited university (ABD will be considered). A closely-related in field in education (i.e. Curriculum and Instruction, etc.) will be considered if the candidate possesses a minimum of 30 graduate hours in elementary or early childhood education. The candidate should be eligible to possess teaching credentials in Elementary Education and/or Early Childhood Education. In addition, the candidate should possess recent P-6 experience, excellent verbal and writing skills; ability to teach undergraduate and graduate classes in Elementary Education; ability to advise students; and ability to work with students as well as P-6 schools and administrators. Additional duties shall include: performance of university and community service initiatives; active and involved leadership role in college and university committees; and involvement with research activities. This appointment is expected to begin in the Fall of 2020.

Established in 1830 as LaGrange College, the University of North Alabama has a rich history including the distinction of being the first state-supported teachers college in the South. The school's 130-acre campus is located in the historic district of Florence, Alabama, on the Tennessee River. Students come from around the country and world, but UNA is largely a regional university with about 70% of students coming from Alabama. Students can choose from more than 60 majors with professional fields in business, education, and nursing being most popular.
