Reese Library of Augusta University invites applications for the position of Electronic Resources and Serials Librarian at the faculty rank of Librarian Instructor. Working under the direction of the Associate Director of Reese Library, this full-time, non-tenure track faculty position has the primary responsibility of managing daily operations related to licensing, negotiating, tracking, and providing access to e-resources and print serials within the broader context of the strategic plans and goals of the University Libraries as well as Augusta University.
The successful candidate will accomplish the following:
- Provides leadership, management, and technical expertise for Reese Library’s collection of electronic and print serials resources. Collects and analyzes data and statistics; prepares departmental and other reports; serves as the library’s point person on issues and questions related to e-resources and serials. Works with publishers and vendors of electronic and print resources regarding trials, contracts and licensing, e-journal interfaces, and changes in print resources. Communicates results of usage reports needed for library assessment; maintains spreadsheets, holdings menu, and web pages for electronic resources. Compiles and reports statistics for institutional, state, and national reports. Participates in collection development, including the weeding/withdrawal of items from the library’s general collection.
- Creates and maintains online research guides. Supervises one full time staff member. Acts as a liaison to one or more academic/university units. Provides research assistance to faculty, staff, students, and library patrons seeking assistance, while maintaining high customer service standards. Participates in the library instruction program by teaching classes in the liaison area, and other areas as needed. Actively engages in professional development by conducting scholarly research relevant to areas of responsibility; disseminates research by contributing to appropriate professional literature and/or conferences. Engages in service to the libraries, the university, the community, and the profession, including serving on committees.
Intra-Institutional Responsibilities:
The Electronic Resources and Serials Librarian will serve as liaison librarian to one or more academic units and will serve on library and institutional committees as a faculty member.
Extra-Institutional Responsibilities:
The Electronic Resources and Serials Librarian is expected to be active professionally in local, regional, and national associations and to contribute to the professional literature.

Augusta is near other attractive communities to visit such as Atlanta, Savannah, Columbia, SC, and Asheville, NC.
Minimum Requirements
Requirements:
- American Library Association (ALA)-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science. Experience with an integrated library system, particularly the acquisitions and cataloging modules; experience using spreadsheets. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; strong analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively in an academic community.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience procuring, licensing, and managing e-resources and print serials. Experience dealing with technical changes that may affect user access to e-resources. Supervisory experience. Experience in library instruction.
Shift/Salary
This position has faculty rank and status (non-tenure track). Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
