Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• To provide Diagnostic Audiology and Rehabilitation services

• Selects, administers, and interprets auditory tests.

• High Frequency Audiometry where indicated

• Middle ear function testing

• Diagnostic audiology testing for differential diagnosis of cochlear/retro-cochlear hearing loss

• Tests for non-organic hearing loss

• Testing for Noise Induced Hearing Loss

• To promote best practice in the field

• To be competent in all areas of dispensing and patient aftercare

• To be competent in the management of information, including daily company reports and

Information technologies

• To operate in line with company policies, procedures and current legislation at all times

• To commit to the company belief of providing the highest levels of service and aftercare to all

Patients’.

• Communicates with other healthcare professionals where necessary to ensure that all patients

are provided with the best advice

• To use appropriate outcome measures, both subjective and objective to ensure hearing

instruments are providing maximum benefit and to use evidence based practice to support this

• Use of Real Ear Measurement equipment including Live Speech Mapping to validate and verify

hearing instrument fittings

• To commit to lifelong learning to ensure that you keep up to date with the latest developments in Audiology

• To produce reports and letters for other healthcare providers and legal representatives

summarizing the appropriate care plans selected for a patient.

• To provide education and training for other healthcare professionals and support staff to assist with maintaining the company profile.

• To be responsible for daily maintenance of test equipment and arrange calibration as and when

required

• To provide ear care and wax removal where required (appropriate training will be provided)

• To follow best practice principles with regard to infection control in the workplace

• To provide other clinical duties as appropriate

• Compiles test results, behavioral observation and information to make recommendations.

• Identifies and refers patients for speech-language, educational, medical, psychological, social and vocational

services.

• Selects ear mold, personal amplification, and/or assistive listening devices.

• In-depth knowledge of several hearing aid manufacturers, Oticon, GN Resound and Phonak in particular and BAHA

• Schedules direct and indirect service activities.

• Maintains client records at all stages, including initial evaluation and discharge.

• Documents all professional and clinical reports in a timely manner.

• Utilizes local, state, national and funding agency regulations to makes decisions regarding service eligibility.

• Conducts research on auditory topics.

• Participates in conference, forums or training to update or share knowledge of new hearing or speech disorder treatment methods.

• Works with multi-disciplinary teams to assess and rehabilitate recipients of implanted hearing devices.

• Maintains confidentiality of all patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.

• May conduct and participate in research, including presenting at national and local conferences.

• May train students and externs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of and ability to apply auditory principles, procedures, and techniques

• Knowledge of auditory agents used in patient treatments

• Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat hearing or speech disorders.

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

• Performs in tactful and professional manner.

• Motivated and focused on achieving own goals

• Confident about working within a team and autonomously

Education Requirements (Essential Requirements):

• Doctorate of Audiology degree required. Masters considered with experience.

• Current/valid Florida Audiologist license required.

Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements):

• One year of audiologist-related experience is required.
