Position: Assistant Professor of Technology

Starting Date: August, 2020

Minimum Qualifications:
1) An earned Master’s Degree in Aviation or relevant discipline from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required at the time of application.
2) Evidence of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
3) Evidence of scholarly publications.

Preferred Qualifications:
1) Demonstrated expertise in the aviation industry including aeronautics, turbines, UAVs, Airframe and/or Powerplant.
2) FAA certifications/ratings
3) An earned doctorate in Aviation or other closely related discipline from an accredited institution

Duties: 
The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community.  These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions.

Duties will also include assessment and program expansion in the area(s) of the candidate’s expertise which may include but is not limited to aeronautics, turbines, UAVs, Airframe and/or Powerplant.

The College:
The College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology (http://www.calstatela.edu/ecst) offers ABET-accredited BS programs in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science; an ATMAE-accredited BS program in Industrial Technology; and BS degrees in Aviation Administration, Fire Protection Administration and Technology, and Graphic Communications. The College also offers MS degrees in Computer Science, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Industrial Management.

The Department:
The Department of Technology offers an ATMAE-accredited BS degree in Industrial Technology, as well as BS degrees in Aviation Administration, Fire Protection Administration and Technology, and Graphic Communications. The Aviation Administration program provides a hands-on learning environment with industry-driven curriculum and state-of-the-art classrooms, software and laboratories that will help prepare students for an aviation management career. Our graduates and alumni work throughout the world in many high-level positions and our faculty have strong industry experience in airport and airline operations, airport planning, aviation law and many other areas extending into general aviation.
