General Description / Primary Purpose

The Director Student Financial Aid, typically under the direction of the Senior Director or above, designs, develops, implements and interprets departmental processes and programs. The Director may provide leadership and guidance for a university department. Functions as the Director in his/her absence.

Essential Duties

Job Function

The Director will report to the Senior Director of Student Financial Aid, and will be responsible for assisting the Senior Director of Student Financial Aid with the daily management of all Financial Aid functions within the Financial Aid Processing Office, including training and supervising support staff, managing and coordinating work flows (paper and electronic). Assists the Senior Director in the hiring, supervision, and evaluation of staff, provides oversight for and enhances office workflow processes and ensures accuracy of the data input into the system and disseminated to other constituent groups.

Serves as the liaison between One-Stop and Financial Aid Processing for dealing with specific student financial aid issues that One-Stop has been unable to resolve for a student, and will supervise both the Professional Judgement and Dependency Override functions within the Financial Aid Processing Office.

Assists with planning, directing, and reporting program activity, as well as development and implementation of procedures to produce effective and efficient management of the financial aid program. Oversees quality control procedures for processing aid.

The holder of this position is responsible for any NCAA and Atlantic Sun Conference bylaws and guidelines that a member of the UNF Athletic Compliance Department provides in addition to all UNF regulations. The individual must also assure that NCAA, Conference and UNF regulations are followed to the best of their knowledge and any violations thereof are reported to UNF Athletic Compliance. During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job related duties at a designated off campus location or place of residence.

A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization and six years of experience directly related to the job functions; or a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a directly related area of specialization and eight years of experience directly related to the job functions.

Faculty Position Required QualificationsDepartmental Requirements

This position requires substantial knowledge of the federal financial aid delivery system, as well as a strong background in the everyday use of computers and software applications. The position also requires a person who demonstrates exceptional management and leadership skills while at the same time possessing superior supervisory, communication, and interpersonal skills. They must be willing to assimilate into an office of leaders focused on providing student-centered service and a teamwork mentality as they work to better the services that they provide to students and the UNF community on a daily basis.

This position requires a background check. In conjunction with the University’s policy, this position may also require a credit check.

This position has been designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA). This position has been designated as a CSA because it involves significant responsibility for student and campus activities and/or responsibility for campus security. As such, any person in this position must report to the University Police Department a crime or an incident that might be a crime that he/she becomes aware of. This position has a reporting requirement because the University believes that responsibility for students, campus activities and/or campus security will make the holder of this position someone members of the University community will see as an authority figure and someone to whom they can seek help. A CSA is not expected to investigate or determine whether a criminal incident actually took place. A CSA’s responsibility is a duty to report. All positions designated as CSAs are required to complete an online or in-person training session. The holder of this position is designated as a “Responsible Employee” pursuant to their role
