Public Safety. The Police Officer actively patrols campus and enforces Georgia Law and University policies, procedures to support and promote a safe campus. Multiple vacancies on the Statesboro and Armstrong Campus.
Essential Functions
•Patrols campus acting as a deterrent to criminal activity; responds to calls for service and assist as needed.
•Investigates accidents, crimes and other complaints; arrests, processes, and transports, suspects accused of violating Georgia law.
•Issues parking citations.
•Appears and testifies in campus judicial and Court hearings.
•Performs security checks on campus buildings, parking lots, and residence halls to ensure all buildings are safe and secure.
•Directs traffic and assists stranded motorists by providing unlocks and/or jumpstarts.
•Works special events including sporting events, social events, parades, and large gatherings.
•Follows departmental safety and risk management policies in performance of work.
Georgia Southern University is a Tobacco Free Campus.
Minimum Education RequiredHigh School Diploma or equivalent; ability to obtain P.O.S.T. certification in Georgia as a basic law enforcement officer
