Director of Facilities

St. Edward's University is seeking for an experienced Director of Facilities. The Director of Facilities is responsible for managing the operations and maintenance of campus buildings, grounds, related systems and equipment, as well as campus utility infrastructure with a focus on customer service, safety, and efficiency. This position oversees and coordinated the work of all trades (auto, carpentry, custodial, HVAC, electrical, grounds, mechanical, painting, and plumbing) and serves as the primary liaison with the campus community. As a key member of the operations management team, the Director of Facilities is engaged with strategic planning and decisions in accordance with the divisional goals of increasing customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, resiliency, as well as championing sustainable work practices and serving as a leader of sustainability for the campus staff and students. This position is also primarily responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of an energy management program. Direct reports to this role include the Assistant Director, the Maintenance and Grounds Manager, the Plant Engineering Manager, and the Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator.

For consideration, a Bachelor of Science degree (engineering or a related field preferred) from an accredited institution is required; an advanced degree in a related field preferred. Eight or more years of experience in the following areas are required: facilities administration; physical plant operation; building maintenance; energy management systems; computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) administration and sustainable practices. Experience in an educational setting, particularly higher education, with a broad background/knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, and methods are highly preferred. Certification with energy management, such as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), preferred. Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations, including operational, licensing, environmental and safety are required. Extensive experience managing utilities, from both a billing and a use standpoint, as well as reporting such data and trends, is required. Must have demonstrable familiarity with building codes, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Texas Accessibility Standards, and applicable life/safety codes. Must have a demonstrated experience with capital improvement project planning and contribution. Experience working with geographic information systems to track assets and natural resources on campus is desirable. Must possess an unencumbered driver's license and the ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.
