The Department of History at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for a full time, tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor rank, with a research and teaching specialization in the field of British History and/or the History of the British Empire. The position will begin in August 2020.  The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in History and must demonstrate a commitment to teaching and active scholarship in their field. The new faculty member will teach specialized upper-level undergraduate and Masters' level courses as well as survey courses in our Core curriculum.

With over 22,000 students and 2,200 full-time faculty members, UAB ranks in the top 20 public universities for federal research funding and is the major teaching-research university in the state. Interdisciplinary scholarship and teaching are prominent, and the Department of History collaborates closely with multiple units across campus.
