The Department of Psychology and Education at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT) seeks candidates for an Instructor position for Teacher Licensure Programs. NMT recently was re- accredited by NM Public Education Department (NMPED) for three Teacher Licensure Programs: Graduate Certificate in 1) Secondary Alternative Licensure Program (ALP), 2) Elementary ALP, and 3) Undergraduate Minor in Secondary Education (UMSE). Successful candidates are expected to contribute to the Department’s teaching mission, and serve as a liaison between the University and the local K-12 schools, as well as NMPED as needed. The instructor will teach courses for the teacher licensure programs, supervise field service requirements, advise students and seek educational funding.

Master’s degree in Education or related field, three years of teaching experience and a K-12 teaching licensure. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate prior student advising/supervising, program management or grant writing experiences, or those who have a Doctorate degree. The successful candidate can start January or August of 2020.

The Department of Psychology and Education offers the two ALP graduate certificates and an UMSE, B.S. in Psychology and the transdisciplinary MST (Master of Science for Teachers) program. The department recently received a $2.74 million grant from Department of Education to increase the number of well-qualified teachers and enhance the quality of our teacher education programs.
