It is the oldest department of its kind in the Southeast, one of the elite art education departments in North America, and is solely a graduate program department. The department offers master’s degrees and a doctorate in art education, arts administration, art therapy, and museum education and visitor-centered curation. Faculty in the Department of Art Education at FSU perform teaching, research, and service in art education. The successful candidate will assume responsibilities as Director of the online master’s program in Art Education and will take the lead on developing and teaching graduate course offerings through a VLE platform (Canvas), while also engaging in ongoing curricular development and recruitment activities. This position will entail collaborating with the Office of Distance Learning to meet best practice guidelines for distance learning course design and implementation, as well as working closely with recruitment staff at the College level to grow the enrollment of distance learning students. In addition, the Department expects the candidate to supervise thesis and dissertations, when qualified. The teaching load is 6 credit-hours per semester.
Additional responsibilities will include research, committee work, curriculum development across the Art Education program, service to the university, community, and professional activities in the field that are consistent with departmental expectations. A doctorate degree in Art Education or a closely related field
An established record of published research
Extensive knowledge of K-12 teaching, research, and service
Experience teaching K-12 art
