Assistant or Associate Professor - Food Engineer

Location: Clemson, SC

The Department of Food, Nutrition and Packaging Sciences at Clemson University invites applications and nominations for a full-time (9 months), tenured-track faculty position in food engineering at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank.

The successful candidate will have the ability to initiate, build, and sustain an externally funded research program that leverages the existing research strengthens of the food technology discipline in the department. The candidate will contribute to a strong academic experience for students, including underserved populations, and teaching (and developing as appropriate) undergraduate and graduate student classes that fulfill program needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate dedication to inclusive excellence in higher education. All engineering related areas will be considered, although we are particularly interested in the following areas:
• Mathematical modeling and experimental validation of food processing and preservation methods in relation to food sensory properties
• Development of innovations to improve or optimize food quality, sustainability and/or the social and economic role of food production
• Food waste/by-product valorization, sustainability and loss reduction techniques

The Department's program in Food Science and Technology is a dynamic and rapidly growing area with strong ties to the food and allied industries in South Carolina, the Southeast and Nationally.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualification: Ph.D. in from all science-related fields will be considered. Preference will be given to those with at least one degree in engineering, experience working in food science and to those with post-doctoral research experience.

Preferred qualifications include experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students, experience working in the food industry, skill in applying for research grants or other funding for programmatic support, and experience in publishing peer-reviewed journal articles.
