Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking an Academic Advisor II, Boca Raton, FL.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates a breadth and depth of advising knowledge, skill in advising practice and active participation in professional engagement.
  • Responsible for providing general and specialized advising services.
  • Monitors student academic plans to ensure timely graduation using defined learning outcomes.
  • Uses a variety of advising methods and strategies to tailor daily advising to the interests, goals, and needs of specific students or groups of students.
  • Proactively reinforces and supports student degree progress, academic success and retention, in alignment with university strategic goals and initiatives.
  • Assists in consulting with the Advising Unit and College(s) related to the development of programs.
  • Participates in student recruitment and onboarding activities on and off campus for individuals and groups.
  • Implements unit and university strategic goals and initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree from an accredited institution and three years of Academic Advising or appropriate experience required.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential to success in this position.

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.

Must also have excellent customer service, organizational and time management skills.

Specialization in Higher Education Administration/Student Affairs preferred.

Experience with student database software and degree audit software, prior use of Banner/DARS preferred.

$47,000 - $48,000
