Will also assist with the preparation, review and submission of sponsored research grant proposals and other pre-award activity.Job Description
Duties
Under limited supervision by the Business Administrator, the Grants Coordinator B will monitor sponsored program expenditures for financial and regulatory compliance, identify incorrect transactions, and maintain backup documentation. Will support the Business Administrator in preparing and reconciling monthly BEN Financials and BusinessObjects reports for review with Principal Investigators. Will prepare and enter journal entries and other financial transactions with BEN Financials and Concur, including subcontract activity. Will assist with the preparation, review and submission of sponsored research grant proposals through the internal review process for submission to sponsors, assuring compliance with the department, school and university guidelines. This position reports to the Business Administrator within the department and has a dotted reporting line to the PSOM Office of Research Support Services.
Activities include but are not limited to: Monitoring and correcting grant expenditures, maintaining documentation. Prepare pre-award budget/justifications, provide guidance to investigators on sponsored project policies and procedures, and resolve related issues. Prepare expense reports for review. Act as a liaison between faculty, administrative staff and various internal and external contacts, and assist with other day-to-day business operations as needed.
This position supports several programs in the Department of Psychiatry, which have a diverse portfolio of NIH and other federal research grants and contracts.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and 2-4 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Additionally:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word is required
- Solid organizational and time management skills; strong attention to detail
- Familiarity with Penn sponsored research policies and related financial systems preferred
- Experience with federal granting agencies besides NIH preferred
