The Sr. Web Developer will be the lead project manager for all web-based projects that require an understanding of best practices of web development and design. They will lead the continued optimization of relevant features within Drupal 8, the expansion of our efforts with SLATE’s PING (an analytics service that records user-specific web traffic), as well as the expansion of our lead-generation landing pages. They will develop significant aspects of the website’s responsive design. As a key member of the Marketing and Communications team, lead the integration of all digital channels into the new website, implement an SEO strategy, improve user experience, and user interface design, utilize Google Analytics and produce standardized reports, implement front-end development work by designing and coding themes and plugins, and managing content.
The Sr Web Developer will project manage multi-year initiatives across work teams relating to web development, content strategy, marketing analytics, and web-based applications. In this capacity they will have significant input regarding the generation of a multi-year budget. They will maintain websites and ensure the reliable operation with prompt reaction and resolution to production problems. This position will create innovative approaches to improving the end-user experience by working to improve the usability, usefulness, and aesthetics of the web.Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Lead coder and developer of the website (Drupal and WordPress), including security, accessibility, workflow, and solutions to improve usability.
- Implement best practices of web development and design, leading the migration to an open source platform
- Lead project manager for multi-year, web-based projects, including developing lead-generation landing pages, continued optimization of relevant features within Drupal 8, and the continued expansion of our use of SLATE’s analytics service to record and analyize user-specific web traffic. This role includes significant input regarding the generation of a multi-year budget.
- Improve UX and UI by developing innovative design solutions, including assuring web and video accessibility for people with disabilities.
- Lead the integration of all digital channels into the new website, implement an SEO strategy, advise on user experience, and user interface design, utilize Google Analytics and produce standardized reports, implement front end development work by designing and coding themes and plugins, and managing content.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree required with a minimum of 2 years of experience in web development, web management or web technologies or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional experience in Content Management System solutions and project management skills around their deployment. Demonstrated skills in CMS management, security, and workflows in Drupal or WordPress, experience with project management, HTML development tools and other applicable authoring tools, web production, front-end development. Familiarity with PHP, CSS, and JavaScript. Must be able to integrate design into program rules and system architecture and must be familiar with platform/browser compatibility and basic usability issues. Strong working knowledge of web generators and photographic libraries. Knowledge of web accessibility guidelines and Search Engine Optimization. Experience working with multiple constituencies in a team setting to understand and articulate business processes, data, and priorities required. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
