General: The Department of Criminology in the College of Social Sciences seeks applicants for one tenure-track faculty position as an Assistant Professor in Criminology. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate students, conduct scholarly and applied research, and engage in service-related activities. The candidate should be able to teach core courses in criminology, with additional expertise in any of the following areas: Law Enforcement, Corrections, Victimology, or Forensic Behavioral Sciences. Research expertise in the area of Law Enforcement is preferred; however, all areas will be considered. Other duties will include, but are not limited to, advising and mentoring Criminology students, participating in program development, actively engaging in research and problem-solving activities, grant writing, and committee service at all levels of University governance. Specific assignments are dependent on departmental needs and the background of the individual.

Qualifications:
Required Education (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent.):
A Ph.D. in either Criminology, Criminal Justice or a closely-related Social Science discipline earned from an accredited institution (or foreign equivalent) is required; however, applicants nearing completion of the Ph.D. (ABD) may be considered. For employment in a tenure-track position the candidate’s doctorate must be completed by 8/1/2020. Candidates with a terminal degree of J.D., or Ed.D. are not eligible for this position.
Required Experience:

Demonstrated commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff and students from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds;

Preferred Experience:

Demonstrate a record of excellence in teaching at the university level (experience as an evaluated graduate teaching assistant is acceptable);Record of scholarly presentations and/or publications; andDemonstrate research expertise in the area of Law Enforcement, but if not, expertise in any aspect of Criminology, Criminal Justice, and/or closely related fields will be considered.
