Western Carolina University School of Nursing (SON) seeks an energetic and visionary leader to serve as Director of their Anesthesia program. A 12-month appointment, tenure track position for the qualified candidate, is available in the accredited (CCNE and COA) School of Nursing at Western Carolina University. Anticipated begin work date is Fall 2019 or Spring 2020. Rank is commensurate with experience. The ideal candidate will possess the knowledge and skills to assist in guiding the anesthesia program and to advance the SON as well as promote its reputation. As Assistant Director (AD), the position is responsible for oversight of the anesthesia curriculum and clinical experiences and will teach didactic and laboratory courses, supervise clinical experiences, advise students and participate in school committees. The program is located on the Biltmore Park campus in Asheville North Carolina with clinical sites across the region in both rural and urban settings. The successful candidate will have outstanding communication skills, be committed to shared faculty governance and be dedicated to the recruitment and retention of outstanding and diverse faculty and students. S/he as part of the administrative team will be responsible for advancing the College’s commitment to combining research and scholarship with high quality clinical education at the graduate level. In addition, Western Carolina University has adopted the Boyer model of scholarship and faculty are expected to practice the scholarship of student engagement to enhance student learning. Requirements: Masters degree from an accredited nurse anesthesia program with a doctorate in nursing or related field preferred, national certification as a CRNA; licensure or eligibility for RN licensure/CRNA practice in NC; current CPR, PALS, and ACLS certification, with two or more years of teaching experience in a BSN or higher degree nursing education program preferred.
