Amherst College invites applications for the Testing Coordinator position. The Testing Coordinator is a part time (up to 19 hours per week), academic year, casual position without benefits with a pay rate of $12.75 per hour. The Testing Coordinator provides support for faculty and students by liaising between both to schedule tests, quizzes or exams that cannot be taken during classroom allotted time. Tasks consist of coordinating with Academic Department Coordinators, the Registrar’s Office and Faculty, for testing information and accommodative testing for students with approved accommodations; communicating with students for scheduling test time and location; reserving space for test taking utilizing the EMS. The coordinator takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College’s efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Work Schedule: There are multiple positions available. The hours and days that coverage is needed are from 10:00AM – 9:00PM, Monday through Thursday, and 10:00AM – 5:00PM on Friday.

Key Responsibilities


  • Organize and manage the daily operations of the requests from faculty and staff by consulting with the faculty member, communicating with the student, and using appropriate assistive devices for accommodations
  • Coordinate with Academic Department Coordinators and Faculty to receive and return test taking materials
  • Coordinate with Faculty on any special test taking requirements on communication methods during student test taking
  • Use EMS to reserve space on campus for test taking
  • Ensure that test security standards are upheld and that the confidentiality of all testing records is



    • Demonstrated administrative skills with Excel, Gmail and the ability to learn the EMS reservation system
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Strong organizational, planning, and problem solving skills
    • Strong written, verbal, electronic communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Commitment to supporting a diverse student community
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the campus community


    • Experience working on a college or university campus
    • High school diploma or equivalent
